CASTRO THEATRE HIRES NEW GENERAL MANAGER OF OPERATIONS
San Francisco, California – Mr. Don Nasser, Director of the Castro Theatre, is pleased to announce that Mr. Keith Arnold has been appointed the General Manager of Operations for the theatre. Mr. Arnold has more than a decade of experience working in film and venue operations. For several of those years, he was owner/operator and senior programmer for the Fine Arts Cinema in Berkeley, CA. Additionally, he has worked for several renowned film festivals like the San Francisco International Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival, Dallas International Film Festival, and the Dubai International Film Festival.
Mr. Arnold plans to carry on the Castro Theatre’s success by preserving the historic theatre’s motto of ‘Diverse Programming for a Diverse Audience’. He will maintain the theatre’s thriving community relationships, as well as continue to offer an eclectic array of programming and events showcasing exceptional festivals, repertory programming, and live events. In addition to sustaining the theatre’s vision, Mr. Arnold will undertake the Castro Theatre’s new programming initiative. Previously, the film booking was handled outside of San Francisco; however, under this new initiative, Mr. Arnold will take the lead in expanding the programming and bringing film booking in-house to the Castro Theatre.
Castro Theatre Director, Mr. Nasser remarks, “By bringing the programming home we will be connecting the world to our community and project our community to the world.” He further states, “Incoming General Manager, Keith Arnold, will enrich program quality, and provide additional support to both theatre staff and audiences alike. We are thrilled to have him join the Castro Theatre team!”
About the Castro Theatre:
The Castro Theatre was built in 1922 by pioneer San Francisco theatre entrepreneurs, the Nasser brothers, who started with a nickelodeon in 1908 in the Castro neighborhood. This award-winning and distinguished theatre has hosted a number of award ceremonies, film festivals, fundraisers, concerts, plays and more. The auditorium seats over 1400 in a fantasy setting that is both lavish and intimate.
The Castro Theatre has been successful due in large part to the excellence of the Theatre’s management and staff, including: Office Manager Brian Collette; Operations Managers Gary Olive, Mark Ganter, and Eric Schaefer; stalwart Projection Team; and veteran Film Publicist Walt von Hauffe. Our success is also due to our passionate and devoted audiences. For further theatre information please visit http://www.castrotheatre.com/.
